Chris McCarthy

President

Chris was born and raised in Highland Park, NJ, leaving the Garden State in 1997 to matriculate at the University of Pittsburgh. He graduated from Pitt with a BS in Economics and holds a certificate from the Joseph M. Katz School of Business: Entrepreneurial Fellows Program. Currently the company President, Chris joined Mr. John full time in April 2000, having worked summers since 1994. He is a second-generation member of the family business, and has held many jobs over the years, including- assembling, demolishing, pumping, cleaning and delivering portable toilets, servicing large events, dispatch, marketing, sales, HR, safety, and accounting. Chris lives in Pittsburgh’s Highland Park neighborhood with his wife Caitlin, son Ace, and their dogs Basil, and Sargas. When not thinking about toilets he enjoys cooking, pickup basketball, teeing it up with friends and family, and exploring Pittsburgh’s unique neighborhoods, bucolic parks, and great restaurants.

Jeff Wolfarth

Vice President

Jeff grew up in the Highland Park section of Pittsburgh. He graduated from Peabody High School and likes to say he received his degree from Mr. John University. He worked the summers of 1972 and 1973 repairing wooden portable toilets and started full time at Mr. John in May of 1977. He has been fortunate to be part of the growth of the company and has done just about every job there is (he has the stories to prove it). Jeff is proud of the time he spent on the Board of Directors of the Portable Sanitation Association International (PSAI) where he served as President in 2009. He moved to Cranberry Township in 1983 where, with his high school sweetheart Val, they raised their four daughters Erin, Megan, Emily and Kelly. When away from work he returns to Pittsburgh for food and recreation, he is a big Pens and Steelers fan and enjoys playing one of his many guitars.

Alex McCarthy

Financial Controller

Alex was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, and has been with Mr. John since the summer of 2001, starting as a part time employee over the summer and becoming a full-time employee in January of 2009. He is currently the Division Manager of Tri-Boro Trailer, responsible for the operation of the entire trailer division. In his free time, Alex enjoys golfing, playing softball, snowboarding, exercising, and cheering on the Steelers Pirates Penguins and Pitt. He also enjoys watching Survivor, and tempting fate with a scratch off lottery ticket or two. Alex currently lives in the South Side of Pittsburgh with his wife Candice and their cat Samson.

Brandi Ketter has been a part of the Mr. John family since 2000. She has played many different roles with her current being Marketing and IT Director. She loves her job for the creativity, interaction and innovation it allows. In her free time, Brandi likes to enjoy her family, watch her children grow and rock out to 80's music! A Pittsburgher all her life, she now lives in Jefferson Hills with her husband, Tim and her two precious kids, Finley and Jake.

Ashley Gensel

Customer Support Manager

Ashley started with Mr. John in September 2008 as Quality Control. Currently holding the Billing Specialist position in the Accounting Department. She has played many roles including quality control, operations, Accounts Payable and currently Accounts Receivable. She is the youngest of 3 girls and a very proud aunt of 3 nieces & 2 nephews. In her free time, she loves to spend time with friends and family, shopping and exploring different restaurants and pubs. She spends most weekends enjoying her camp in Greenville, PA. Her most cherished yearly tradition is the week with her family in Myrtle Beach, SC. She hopes to one day scratch, a trip around Europe from her bucket list. Living in Pittsburgh her entire life she still resides in the West End area of Pittsburgh with her longtime boyfriend Pete and their favorite rescue dog Reggie.

Grace Savatt

Grace has been part of the Mr. John family since 1994. She has held many different positions in the Mr. John Company including sales, operations & dispatch, customer service and trailer sales. Grace was born and raised and still resides in McKees Rocks where she spends most of her time with her daughter Jamie and her 2 dogs Jake and Tilly. On occasion, she will travel to Ohio to visit her other daughter Jennifer, son-in-law Chris and her two grandsons CJ and Taylor. She enjoys reading, crafts and cooking large dinners for her family.

David was born and raised in the West Side of Pittsburgh, Pa. He graduated from Slippery Rock University, with a BS in Marketing Management and holds a certificate from the University of Pittsburgh’s Joseph M. Katz School of Business: Entrepreneurial Fellows Program. David joined the Mr. John Family, as the Operations Manager in April of 2015. David lives in Wexford, Pa with his wife Kristin and (4) Kids – Avelyn – Kennedy – Declan - Keegan. David enjoys keeping a busy schedule with his kids sports and activities, being outdoors and occasional dinner dates with his wife.

Arvin Young

Arvin Young grew up in the Stanton Heights area of Pittsburgh. He studied business management at CCAC Boyce Campus. Concurrently he works at Mr. John where he provides employee support and performs many other duties. Prior to Mr. John he worked at Red lobster as a Line Coordinator Certified as a Grill Master assuring a quality dining experience. Inspired by his father, he learned how to repair cars and small engines. In his spare time he likes inventing, bowling and fishing and is blessed with a supportive family and group of neighbors and friends. Arvin makes sure everyone feels appreciated to ensure no one is feeling left out building strong relationships at work as well as in the community.

Frank joined Mr. John in February 2015 as on Operations Specialist, soon becoming the Service Dispatcher. He uses his knowledge and experience of the Pittsburgh area to build and strengthen relationships with customers and drivers, allowing Mr. John to deliver a seamless customer service experience. He enjoys the challenges that each new day brings. Frank was raised in New Kensington, living in several city and North Hills neighborhoods before settling back in New Kensington to raise a family of his own. When he’s not working, Frank enjoys spending time with his two wonderful children, reading, fishing, watching movies, and attending live stage performances.

Jaime Gensel has been a part of the Mr. John team since February 2006 and has some experience in each department. Her current title is Credit & Collections Specialist. When she’s not focused on the numbers in Accounting, she loves to spend time with her two amazing daughters, Morgann & Deanna, who are currently attending local Pittsburgh University’s. She also enjoys a night out with her fiancé Shawn and playing with her newly rescued cat, Buddy. She has a passion for health, fitness, bringing flea market finds to life, music, dedicating time to her friends and family and traveling, especially to her favorite vacation spot, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She grew up and currently still resides in the Sheraden area of Pittsburgh.

Kim Charlton

Accounting Bookkeeper

I started working for Mr. John when the office was a trailer in Lawrenceville almost 28 years ago. The small office was loaded with printers that sounded like helicopters were landing on the roof, fax machines that loaded like toilet paper and a route board with movable magnetic labels; all the new innovated tech of the times. The floppy disks were as big as LP albums and all the journals were loaded into them. I was hired to start with the new Unix based software and the 3 ½ inch floppy disks. I had just graduated from CCAC with a degree in Accounting and was ready to raise my two children who were very instrumental in helping me get that degree. The jobs I had before this were not very challenging. This was not the case at Mr. John. This one was a true blessing in my life. Not only did I get to put my accounting skills in gear I also learned a lot more of those skills from the company as they were ascending a rough road up to becoming what they are today. I was also able to do more than just accounting; I did almost every position there was here including learning to drive a skid steer loader. I painted toilets in the spring and was given the opportunity to start a Safety Committee which took us three years to receive certification from the state. After a lot of hard work, huge binders filled with MSDS sheets, shower portable units turned into eye wash stations, chains, chalks, accident reports and dedication by many employees and we finally did it. I also began dual roles as the HR and Accounting manager and was able to recommend two of our beloved drivers into the PSAI’s driver of the year competition and they both brought home the glory! One was the first female ever to win that award. I was given the opportunity to recognize the many gifts our employees brought to the company through the President’s Day Meetings we held once a year. I also started the News Flush, a monthly publication focused on the safety and appreciation of our employees and industry with a splash of humor. Not only did I start with a new software, I also was given the opportunity and trust to put into place our operating and accounting software along with many payroll and time clock systems. I have been given so much experience, trust and knowledge and yes, love from what I consider a true family. We have grown so much and hired so many people in these past years that I am exclusively accounting now but there is much more to account for. I have watched this company suffer, sacrifice, grow, reach, blast off, sink, dig out, soar, say goodbye, say hello, take risks, invent, challenge and evolve all with the loyalty, integrity, love and dedication to it’s employees, communities and customers. I am so proud to be part of it and I have been in awe of witnessing its growth to what it has become. I truly thank God for this path He put me on. God is the number one in my life here and outside of my life at Mr John. I love my family of those two children who patiently shared me with Mr. John and later both worked here; one still does, my husband, my son in law, my two grandchildren, my church and friends. I have lived a very blessed life and I as of my morning prayers, this company is still a blessing that I count and always will be.

Katie McCarthy

Billing & Payroll Specialist

Katie was born and grew up in the greater Pittsburgh area. In 2009 she started working part-time in the Accounting Department and within the last few years has had the responsibilities of Billing, Accounts Receivables, and Payroll. She lives in Harmony with her husband Jared, their cat Toulouse, and dog Winnie. In her spare time she enjoys reading, painting, baking, frequenting local bars & restaurants, and spending time with Jared and their pets.

Kade Grevas

Accounts Payable Specialist

Kade comes to us from PPG, where he was employed for over 4 years as Credit Administrator. Prior to this role, he was an Accounts Payable and Operations Clerk, specializing in freight at Harsco Infrastructure. Kade graduated from Franciscan University of Steubenville, with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He considers himself a connoisseur of geek culture, and he enjoys playing games in his spare time. Kade is originally from the Hudson Valley region of New York and now lives in the Crafton/Ingram area with his wife Megan and their baby daughter Seraphina.
